Position Description - President
The President has the overall responsibility for leadership in developing programs, for ensuring that plans and assignments are carried out, and for seeing that the chartered chapter fulfills its obligations to the ICF. The President will be familiar with the policies and procedures of the ICF, with the chapter's bylaws, and with the duties of all the other officers and committee chairpersons.
- Work to establish the vision/mission statement for the chapter along with the executive team
- Develop and set the strategy (with the executive team) for the chapter on a yearly basis including projects; how to; subcommittee formation etc.
- Work closely with the vice president on skill and leadership development to insure the successful transition to president the next year.
- Work closely with ICF national office to insure awareness of any policy or procedure changes; and get the necessary resources or support from the national level.
- Ensure the Metro DC Chapter is represented at ICF national conference
- Serve as the final deciding vote on a tie breaker issue
- Write thank you notes to presenters or speakers at programs or events; vendors or sponsors of any program or event we have.
- Preside over all meetings
- Sign checks in absence of the treasurer
- Make all required appointments of standing and special committees
- Communicate activities to the local membership via a newsletter, e-mail, etc.,
- Plan a budget with the Treasurer to be reviewed and approved by the executive committee.
- Set audit procedures in motion at year end for financial records turnover
